Welcome to Student Leadership

  • The Nottingham Free School student leadership team has representatives from each and every tutor group in the school.
  • In each year group, tutor groups represent one of our four 'houses' - Clough, Hawksley, Potter and Torvill.
  • Student leaders, therefore, also represent one of the four 'houses', and support with inter-house competitions and events.
  • Student leaders in years 7 to 11 are identified by wearing a navy-blue necktie that differs from the standard school tie.
  • They are seen as role models in their everyday interactions both inside and outside of school and they take a collective responsibility to protect the rights of other children in the school.
  • To be on the school leadership team, these students have demonstrated an impeccable behaviour record, strong attendance and are working hard alongside their teachers to make sure that Nottingham Free School is a safe, happy and welcoming environment for all.

Rayaan Mahmood is the current Student President at Nottingham Free School:

"As the Student President at Nottingham Free School, I aim to provide a means whereby students can express their voices and create opportunities for them to develop lifelong skills.

I am truly grateful for the support that students and staff have shown me during my time here and am honoured to be able to give back to them, and our wider community, through this role.

My priorities for the autumn/winter term are:

  1. Widen the student leadership opportunities, by recruiting one more student leader from each tutor group
  2. Raise student awareness about Wear Red Day 2023 (Show Racism The Red Card)
  3. Organise and train Student Leaders to support at our Open Evening and Open Morning events in school."
