Year 10

Intent

On completion of year 10, learners have increasingly in-depth knowledge of complex vocabulary and grammar; not only in their own lives, but in a worldwide context. They have a strong appreciation of social diversity & cultural heritage across the Hispanic world and can speak and write with increasing confidence and spontaneity. They have built on their grammar schema & can now use a range of pronouns in regular & irregular past and future tenses, the conditional tense, si clauses, reflexive verbs, idioms, absolute superlatives, expressions followed by infinitives and verbs using ‘se’.

Intent

On completion of year 11 and the GCSE course, learners have progressively accumulated in-depth knowledge of complex vocabulary and grammar; allowing them to communicate confidently and coherently in speech and writing with Spanish native speakers. They have developed a genuine awareness of culture & identity in the Hispanic world, as well as in their own communities. They have in-depth knowledge of how language works and can use extended, extensive vocabulary & grammar in a variety of contexts. They can understand and respond to a rich range of authentic written & spoken material. They are thinking like global citizens and have developed lifelong language-learning skills for both immediate use & to prepare them for further study in school, higher education or employment.
