Weekly Parent BulletinWeek of 28 April (Week B)

~ 28th April 2025 ~

Dear Parents and Carers,

It was wonderful to welcome your child back into school this week. Overall, behaviour has been excellent and students have worked hard in their lessons. I will make special mention of the Year 10 students that took part in the Stop The Bleed training on Tuesday. Students received education and training on how to support people experiencing the trauma of blood loss due to accident or injury. All Year 10 students were fully engaged and demonstrated amazing new knowledge and skills by the end of the session. Thank you to Mrs Wilken and Mrs Inglis for organising such transformational Personal Development workshops.

We have Year 8 Parent-Teacher Meetings on Tuesday next week (29 April), so school will finish at 2:45pm on this day for all children. Thanks in advance to all the Year 8 parents and carers that have booked appointments.

I hope you find the following notices informative and wish you a peaceful weekend.

Yours faithfully,

Dr J Simpson

All students have received an assembly this week sharing what they did well last term and what each year group needs to work on this term.  It is pleasing to share with the students this week that staff feel that behaviour is good at NFS and that learning is focused and that students are respectful.  Targets for students to work on this term are:

  1. Ensuring homework is being completed at home or in homework club so that it is handed in on time.
  2. Reflecting on how they are making people feel.
  3. Coming to school prepared with the correct equipment
  4. Being intrinsically motivated to do the right thing
  5. Be an upstander to unkindness.
  • This summer term, we setting the challenge for all students to attend every day so that they do not miss learning opportunities.
  • 96% of students have attended their first week back after Easter which is a pleasing start to the challenge of attending everyday.
  • Please continue to share the importance of attending school on the days when your child is not feeling 100%.
  • We have introduced an exciting opportunity to students in year 7,8 and 9 to become Transition Ambassadors.
  • 10 students from each year group will be chosen to support the transition of the new year 6 students this summer term.
  • This will entail helping on transition days in July, attending the local primary schools to talk to students and being a mentor in September.
  • Many students are already excited by this and students will have to apply to become an Ambassador.
  • Please ask your child if they want to apply for the role!
  • NSPCC have excellent parent resources to support on key themes regarding online safety. Each week, we will provide links to topics.
  • This week is focused on talking to your child about sharing nudes -
